Minecraft is a fun game. Spiral Knights is free, so you don't need to buy it for Christmas.
Alice: Madness Returns is a rather strange choice for a 12-year old girl O_O
If you like RPGs like Final Fantasy and wants some customization, I recommend Resonance of Fate. It's an interesting and light-hearted JRPG, but it's not quite popular enough because it came out around the same time FF XIII did. There's are customization available, and it's funny to fit on ten different scopes on one gun and use it in battle. It's pretty cheap now, you can get a copy for $20 or less. I think you might like it!

I recommend skyrim, you can turn off the blood option but trust me, if you like fantasy games, THAT'S the game you should get, you can anything from an elf to an ogre, a warrior to a sorcerer, a mage to a thief.....oh and did I mention..you can ride a horse. The world you play in is huge and there are DRAGONS. Please, make an exception just once for this game, you won't regret it.
