Why do people say anyone who plays video games is a nerd?

Ok so my last question was too long, I got that from people, so im gonna make this short and sweet. Here goes.



Im trying to find a girlfriend, so i've been using a dating site (not gonna name the site and im not being sponsored by it either). Anyways, I was talking to a girl and she asked me what im into and what im looking for in a girl, i told her im really into video games, and it'd be cool to find a girl who is also interested in video games. She stopped talking to me all of a sudden.



About a week after that i got my confidence back up and I then told another girl the same thing, told her i loved playing xbox and ps3, and she called me a nerd and also stopped talking to me, and blocked me. Now I know for a fact that video games were cool back in the 80s/90s, so what makes it different these days? I want a girl who loves video games as much as i do, but how am i going to do that if all girls call me a nerd when i tell them i like to play portal? Video games are so popular, you see games like cod and mario advertised everywhere, so why do i get called a nerd when i tell people this? Is it just me? does anyone else expirience this too? I googled it and didn't find anything, so im feeling quite alone on this one.



so, getting to the point here, im in love with minecraft and portal and want to tell a girl on the dating site this, but when i do, they call me nerdy and gross, even though i am quite the looker. Because it has happened 2 times to me, i cant get my confidence back up to ask another girl, i will eventually, but when i do, i dont want to be shut out again. I just need a reason why people do this? Is it really just me, or do other people get this too? Im asking this because i feel if i know others expirience the same atrocliate via what i am recieving, it will build up my confidence again, and be able to ask girls over and over without getting so depressed when they block and/or report me. It might actually help me a lot.



So back to the question, Why do people say anyone who plays video games is a nerd?

Anyways, I honestly have no idea. It's like people are so quick to judge that if you play video games, then you automatically have no friends. It just doesn't make sense..Why do people say anyone who plays video games is a nerd?
Yo man don't let that get to you. Brothas be playin video games too. Even gangstas play video games after a long day on the street, they get out their Madden football games or something lol. I'm sure the star quarterback of your high school plays video games. That is the most stereo typical comment ever. Just play your games and as long is it doesn't consume your life than don't let it bother you. Just tell her forget you than. It's not in google because google doesn't stereotype people like your girl did. She seems to drama causin anyways. You will find someone.
It's not the video games that make girls "think you're a nerd." It's your over emphasis of your interest in them. If a girl asks what you're into and the first thing you say is VIDEO GAMES, it's going to be a turn off. No girl wants to be with a guy that sits on the couch 10 hours a day playing Black Ops and not paying attention the her. Next time a girl asks what you're into tell her "grabbing coffee with friends, catching a flick, music, books, whatever.... mentioning that you play games (casually) lastly.

It's not what you say but how you say it.
